Campos Designs Smarter MEP Systems

Providing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services that power performance and precision.

What is MEP Engineering Design?

Campos Engineering designs mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems for new and existing buildings.  It is the MEP systems that bring a building to life. Imagine a building without heat, air conditioning, lighting, or plumbing.

The mechanical systems heat and cool the building making the occupants comfortable while spending time in the space.  The building’s lighting creates an energy that draws people from both within the building and outside.  Finally, the plumbing systems are necessary for the health and safety of the building’s occupants.

Campos is a licensed professional engineering firm in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Jersey, Florida, Tennessee, and Illinois.

Our Engineering Process

Project Goals

Campos kicks off each project with a meeting that includes key stakeholders and end-users. This meeting aims to define project success, determine the frequency of design submittals, and decide if an assessment of existing conditions is required.

Analysis & Assessment

Before starting the design for the renovation or addition to an existing building, Campos will survey the existing MEP systems to determine their age and condition. With this information, the Campos design team determines if the existing systems have adequate capacity or sufficient service life remaining and then determine the appropriate system for the new function of the space.

Schematic Design

A written narrative of the MEP design intent is produced during the project's conceptual design and schematic design phase. This phase is critical to ensure the MEP design criteria are in line with the owner's requirements.

Design Development

During the project’s design development phase, Campos will layout the basic design concepts of the project.  The engineering team will select system types, determine MEP equipment sizes, and establish space requirements for these systems.

Construction Documents

During the construction document phase, Campos will size all MEP system components, ensure all equipment has proper clearances for maintenance and safety, and coordinate the systems’ routing with other consultants. Technical specifications will be part of this package.

Construction Administration

Campos has a dedicated construction administration team led by a team member with more than 20 years of tenure. The team's experience inspecting design and construction applications on various project types will provide you, the client, with highly proficient CA services.

Assessment

The assessment is a crucial stage of renovation work because it impacts the workflow of the entire project. It also provides the owner with important information about their building’s existing systems, regardless of what will and will not be handled by the contract.

Campos developed an innovative, app-based assessment tool used in this early stage of the design process while gathering information. The result is a continuous flow of information between the assessment team and the owner, which improves communication and coordination, thus simplifying the process.
