Testing MEP systems without interrupting service to a working hospital
Project Description
Campos provided testing, adjusting, and balancing for the Methodist Hospital’s vertical expansion in Richardson, Texas. The addition included 150 private patient rooms and a seven-level parking garage with 670 spaces. As a result of this expansion, the central plant had to be renovated with two chiller retrofits to increase cooling tonnage. The central plant renovation also included a new magnetic bearing chiller for energy efficiency, a new cooling tower, and a matching condenser pump. The heating water system had boilers and pumps added for the new load.
Testing, adjusting, and balancing the three new multi-floor air handling units (serving existing spaces and construction spaces) was completed without disturbing the occupied patients.
Campos worked closely with the commissioning team, general contractor, and subcontractors to provide a seamless transition of all mechanical systems serving areas outside the construction area.
