Significance of Project

Combined services project where Campos provided MEP design and commissioning services

Project Description

Brazos County had to renovate and expand their existing 1990s juvenile center to accommodate more beds, provide more space for education, and address general building maintenance issues.

Campos was selected to complete a feasibility study and a cost analysis. The firm then provided the associated drawings for the renovation and expansion of this juvenile center. Key elements of the MEP design included a new electrical service to back feed the existing service, a new filtered water service, a back feed the existing fixtures, and an expanded fire suppression system with a new riser to serve the addition.

Additionally, Campos was selected for commissioning services and verified that the smoke evacuation systems were working correctly. The scope included the holding cells, day rooms (multipurpose areas), and the guard stations. Rooftop units, exhaust fans, building automation, and fire control systems were observed. Campos‘ commissioning team performed a live smoke performance test to test the smoke sensing devices in each smoke control zone.
